Map of the Tibetan areas in Asia
In many other Asian countries than in China, there are areas which are traditionally inhabited by ethnic Tibetans. The Buddhist population of Bhutan, for example, is considered to be "ethnically Tibetan"; they are believers of Vajrayana Buddhism ("Tibetan Buddhism"). India, Nepal and even Pakistan host other important groups. The ethnic Tibetans in Pakistan are generally Moslem and are often not considered to be "Tibetans" by Buddhist Tibetans.
